PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a hair cosmetic capable of imparting hair with softness free from stickiness while suppressing unnatural luster and giving excellent feeling in use by using a specific polymethylsilsesquioxane powder, a diol compound and a carboxyvinyl polymer as essential components. SOLUTION: The objective cosmetic contains (A) 0.01-2 wt.% of polymethylsilsesquioxane powder of the formula (CH3SiO1.5)n having an average particle diameter of 2-10μm (preferably containing <15 wt.% of particles having particle diameter of >=10μm and <15 wt.% of particles having particle diameter of <2μm) [e.g. Tospearl 2000B (commercial name)], (B) 0.001-2 wt.% of a diol compound of the formula (R1 and R2 are each H or a 1-10C alkyl) (e.g. 3-methyl-1,3-butanediol and 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol) and (C) 0.01-1 wt.% of a carboxyvinyl polymer.
