PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a buckle device free from the ingress of a foreign substance by closing a tongue insertion hole when a tongue is not inserted therein. SOLUTION: When a tongue 40 is not inserted, a slide cover 50 energized with a cover spring 30 advances and a tongue insertion hole is closed. When the tongue 40 is inserted in a buckle device 16, a projected part 48 collides with the slope 52 of the slide cover 50, thereby causing the slide cover 50 to retreat and the tongue 40 to be inserted in the buckle device 16. Also, the forward end of the tongue 40 collides with the upper slope of a hook 72 and a latch slider 60 retreats. As a result, the hook 72 and a latch hole 42 are engaged with each other, thereby latching the tongue 40. For releasing a latched state, a pushbutton 64 is pressed and the latch slider 60 is made to retreat. Then, the tongue 40 is pulled out.
