摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a hydrogen storage alloy powder large in charge capacity, excellent in initial activating characteristics and useful as the negative pole of an alkali storage battery by heat-treating cubic C15 type or hexagonal C14 type hydrogen storage alloy powder whose crystal structure of intermetallic compds, as alloy phases belong to Laves phases in a soln, in which potassium hydroxide and tartaric acid are coexistent. SOLUTION: Each element is blended so as to prepare a prescribed alloy compsn., and each structural element is melted in a button arc furnace, a high frequency induction furnace and an atomizing furnace and is solidified to produce an alloy. Next, the alloy is heat-treated in a vacuum or in an inert gas for homogenizing it. After that, the alloy is hydrogenated to be pulverized or mechanically pulverized, then is classified to obtain powder of about 10 to 75μaverage particle size. This alloy powder is charged into a soln. in which 25 to 55 wt.% potassium hydroxide and 0.5 to 25 wt.% tartaric acid are coexistent and is heated at 90 to 130 deg.C, is held while being stirred, then is neturally cooled, the soln. in discharged, is cleaned with ion exchange water and is dried.
