PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to know prior to printing whether or not an out-of-ink condition occurs during printing by a printer in a printing system. SOLUTION: When an instruction for executing printing is provided by a user, an RIP(raster image processor) turns off a printing start flag so that the printing is interrupted. The RIP requests transmission of a residual quantity of ink in a printer (S200) and receives the residual quantity of ink transmitted from the printer in response to the request (S210). The RIP predicts a quantity of ink necessary for the printing in the printer based on preview data. A residual quantity of the ink and the predicted necessary quantity are compared with each other by each color of the ink to be indicated by using a graph (S260 and S250). When the ink is deficient (S260: YES), the result is indicated (S270). |
