PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a wire rod capable of preventing the adhesion between wires after heat treatment by adding specified weight ratios of Cr and Zr to Cu and specifying the tensile strength, elongation, electric conductivity and wire diameter. SOLUTION: This wire rod contains 0.005 to 1.0 wt.% Cr and 0.005 to 0.20 wt.% Zr and has >=40 kgf/mm2 tensile strength, >=8% elongation, >=85% IACS electric conductivity and 20 to 100μm wire diameter. Preferably, a casting material of a Cu-Cr-Zr alloy obtd. by adding 0.005 to 1.0 wt.% Cr and 0.005 to 0.20 wt.% Zr to Cu is subjected to solution treatment at >=950 deg.C for >=30 min to prepare copper alloy wire drawn to a final wire diameter, which is subjected to heat treatment at 600 to 900 deg.C for 1 to 10 sec in a reducing gas atmosphere to form Cu-Cr-Zr precipitates, moreover, the heat treatment is executed by passing it through a tubular furnace, and the tubular furnace has a heat treating temp. uniformized in the longitudinal direction. A delivery machine 1 for the copper alloy wire 4 subjected to the wire drawing, the tubular furnace 2 for heat treatment, a coiling machine 3 for the treated copper alloy wire 5 and the like are equipped.
