PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decorative material equal to a usual product from aspect of surface physical properties or design properties and to prevent an unpleasant smell or health injury by capturing and removing both of formaldehyde diffused from a base material for the decorative material and formaldehyde in indoor air. SOLUTION: A decorative paper is constituted by providing a pattern layer 2 and a pref. urethane or acrylic topcoat layer 3 to which a formaldehyde absorbent of a hydrazine deriv. is pref. added on the surface of a paper base material having an amide, urea or hydrazine deriv. formaldehyde absorbent pref. internally added thereto, applied thereto or infiltrated thereinto. This decorative paper is bonded to a base material such as a wooden base material diffusing formaldehyde to obtain a decorative material.
