PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermosensitive recording medium having excellent surface glossiness, recording feedability, water resistance and alcohol resistance and a method for manufacturing it. SOLUTION: In the thermosensitive recording medium comprising a thermal recording layer containing a leuco dye, a colorant and an adhesive, a first intermediate layer containing aqueous resin, a second intermediate layer cured by illuminating an ionizing radiation to an ionizing radiation curable compound, and an uppermost layer containing a pigment and aqueous resin sequentially provided on a support; the uppermost layer contains aqueous resin obtained by seed polymerizing at least (meth)acylamide as a monomer. The method for manufacturing the medium comprises the steps of (1) sequentially providing a thermal recording layer and a first intermediate layer on a support, (2) coating the first layer with a coating liquid for the second layer containing the curable compound to provide a second intermediate coating surface, (3) providing an uppermost layer on a film or metal surface separate from the support, (4) bringing the uppermost layer into contact with the second coating surface, then (5) illuminating an ionizing radiation to cure the second intermediate layer, and (6) isolating the film or metal surface from the uppermost layer. |
