PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To softly accept an occupant seated at a place other than the normal position by locking one end of a tether in contact with the outer tube of a second inflator activated after a first inflator is activated, and fitting the other end of the tether to the inside of an air bag. SOLUTION: A tether 21 for regulating the expansion state is provided in an air bag 15, and two-step inflators constituted of a first inflator and a second inflator activated at a time difference are provided. The tether 21 is stretched to regulate the expansion state of the air bag 15 by the activation of the first inflator, the tether 21 is cut by the activation of the second inflator, and the air bag 15 is inflated in the final expansion state. The expansion state of the air bag 15 can softly accept an occupant to cause no relative movement between the head and breast even when the occupant is seated at a place other than the normal position in the expansion process of the air bag 15. |
