PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a motor-driven brake device to generate a controlling force using a brake motor as a power source, in which the braking force is decreased when the brake motor goes in failure under the situation that a braking force is generated. SOLUTION: Using a bolt 82, a wedge member 80 is fixed to the reaction part 44b of calipers 44 installed on the outside of a disc rotor 42. The wedge member 80 is provided with a plurality of bolt holes to enable fixation in different positions relative to the reaction part. If this wedge member 80 is moved down and fixed in the condition that a brake motor 30 is in failure, a clearance is secured between the wedge member 80 and a backing metal piece 79. In this case, the pressing force of a brake pad 76 to the disc rotor 42 decreases and the calipers 44 are displaced to the right (refer to the illustration), which leads to a decrease in the pressing force of another brake pad 74 to the disc rotor 42. This decreases the braking force currently generated. |
