PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an immersion pipe for a vacuum degassing furnace in which no problem by the presence of joints is raised, a carbon pick-up to a molten steel can be suppressed, expansion and deformation of a supporting structure frame can be suppressed by the reduction in thermal conductivity, and a nitrogen gas (a nitrogen entering from the atmosphere) penetrating from a castable refractory of an outer circumferential part of the immersion pipe is prevented from entering the structure of a sleeve-like refractory. SOLUTION: A coating film 16 consisting of '50% mullite, 30% frit, 10% silicon carbide, and 10% sodium silicate' is applied an outer circumferential surface of a sleeve brick formed of a magnesia carbon brick containing 7% carbon, and the sleeve brick as an inner cylindrical refractory 11 is located inside a cylindrical castable refractory 12 with a cylindrical supporting metallic frame 13 embedded therein.
