ALPHA-GLUCOSIDASE INHIBITOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain anα-glucosidase inhibitor that has a strongα-glucosidase inhibitory action and can be readily ingested by containing clove powder. SOLUTION: This inhibitor contains clove as an active ingredient. In a preferred embodiment, eugeniin represented by the formula is included in the active ingredient. The clove as an active ingredient is preferably extracted from a clove plant with water and/or alcohol, more preferably with an aqueous alcohol of 30-70 wt.% alcohol concentration. Methanol or ethanol is preferably selected as the alcohol. A daily dose is preferably 0.1-50 g, particularly 0.5-20 g as dried clove powder.
