PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an ink-jet recording apparatus in which cockling or a paper float is hard to take place and which stably records. SOLUTION: A recording head 1 discharges ink liquid drops thereby recording, and a platen 11 guides a rear face of a recording sheet material S under the recording head 1. In this recording apparatus, the recording sheet material S moving on the platen 11 is adapted to move in a state while waving in a breadthwise direction thereof. A plurality of ribs 13 and pits 15 direction to a transfer direction of the sheet material are alternately formed on an upper face of the platen 11 to wave the recording sheet material S in the breadthwise direction. A sheet material-retaining plate 12 having projections 16 for guiding the sheet material into the pits 15 is set at the upstream side of the platen 11. A spur 18 for retaining a valley part of the waving sheet material S is set at a downstream part of each pit 15.
