PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a melt transfer type ink image receiving sheet for scarcely decreasing in quality of appearance such as a recess, a streak or the like of an image recording surface by obtaining high recording density, good gradation reproducibility and good dot reproducibility. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the melt transfer type ink image receiving sheet comprises the steps of coating and drying one surface of a sheet-like support with a foam containing a resin mixed liquid obtained by mechanically agitating a water dispersing resin-containing liquid to form a porous ink receiving layer, and controlling the layer so that a mean pore size of a surface of the layer is set to a range of 0.5 to 30 μm, an apparent density of the layer is set to a range of 0.4 to 0.9 g/m3 and a compression deformation amount of the layer in a thickness direction under pressure of 1.0 kg/m2 is set to 10 μm or less. |
