PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fully endure repetition of shocks under high-speed rotation by butting and weld-jointing an intermediate roller portion having a hollow hole and a roller portion with a shaft, and forming a surface hardening layer around the entire periphery of the roller. SOLUTION: A hollow unit roller 10 is normally a hollow construction having a hollow through hole 15. The unit roller 10 comprises an intermediate roller portion 12, and a roller portion 11 with a shaft being weld-jointed via a butt welding part 13 at both ends respectively. The end of the hollow hole 15 has an inner face 16a whose diameter is the same as the inner face of the hollow through hole of the intermediate roller portion 12, and also has a shape in a manner to be connected to a flat inner end face 16c from the inner face 16a through a given curvature of a concave bent face 16b. A surface hardening layer 14 is applied on the entire periphery of the roller 10 being weld-jointed. Then, the welding part 13 at both ends of the roller portion 11 with the shaft and the intermediate roller portion 12, is welded via an asymmetrical V-shape welding groove.
