PURPOSE: A ring melody update device and method update a ring melody from the outside to a mobile telephone. CONSTITUTION: The ring melody update method performs (300) a melody generation program so as to generate a desired melody. The method receives the melody data, and updates a ring melody for a mobile telephone. Thereby, the user can have a melody made by him as a ring melody of the mobile telephone, and update operation is always possible.
