The present invention relates to a method that involves, as the heart beats and essentially during the myocardium contraction and/or relaxation, generating modulated signals at the same pace as the heart beat. A flexible optical fibre (1, 3, 6) is attached in or on the heart through its distal end (1) so that a contraction causes a flexion of said fibre (1). This method further involves injecting light from a light source (7) into the proximal end (6) of the optical fibre, and measuring the modulation in the intensity and/or the phase shift of the light caused by the flexion of the optical fibre at the optical fibre output (6). |
