PURPOSE: A navigation system and method are provided to improve searching speed of position information. CONSTITUTION: The navigation system comprises an automobile information searcher for receiving an automobile state information provided from an electronic control apparatus of an automobile and a GPS(global positioning system) lateral position information and for outputting the signals as a voice and an image-type signal, a wireless communication terminal for receiving and wireless transmitting the lateral position information and the automobile state information and for outputting a response signal thereof to the automobile information searcher, a wireless communication terminal for interfacing transmission/reception of the wireless signal, and a navigation map server for providing a path data and a map information according to a current position information and a destination information to the automobile information searcher.
