INPUT QUANTIZATION METHOD FOR VITERBI DECODER

PURPOSE: An input quantization method for Viterbi decoder is provided to enable a soft decision Viterbi decoder to utilize all levels being expressed as multi bit. CONSTITUTION: The input quantization method for Viterbi decoder comprising the steps of: quantizing received symbols using all quantizing levels(S110); adding a predetermined value to quantized bit column thereby making a left and right levels become symmetric(S120); and decoding the added bit column(S130), thereby enabling a soft decision Viterbi decoder to utilize all levels being expressed as multi bit.
