<p>PURPOSE: A packet continuity test device for asynchronous transfer mode system and a method thereof are provided to assure convenience and remove limit to the continuity test packet. CONSTITUTION: The packet continuity test device includes a packet input part receiving a packet and transmitting it to a packet output part, and transferring a packet and a latch enable signal to a head extracting part; a packet output part producing a packet input from the packet input part; a header extracting part receiving the packet and latch enable signal from the packet input part, extracting a header, and producing an address referring to a continuity assignment part; a continuity assignment part storing in advance whether the continuity as to a packet requiring a continuity test is assigned or not; a decoder register setting up a value of a decoder register by receiving the result of the continuity assignment part and the address of the continuity assignment part; and a processor testing a continuity of a corresponding packet with the value of the decoder register. The present invention can perform a continuity test of a given packet by using a processor, a memory, a decoder and a register.</p> |
