PURPOSE: A gas warning method and apparatus is provided to improve confidence of a gas warning. CONSTITUTION: A learning data is evaluated by gradually varying heater voltage to classify patterns of data for respective gases. The learning data is classified according to the patterns. The learning data is stored in a memory. The voltage is supplied to the heater by gradually varying. A gas data according to the varied voltage is stored in the memory. A microcomputer recognizes the pattern by the learning data and determines whether the pattern represents a gas warning. The microcomputer generates a warning when the pattern represents a gas warning.
