PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for scanning of touch panel is provided to reduce expense and improve response time by improving performance of a central processing unit without using a separated driving circuit or part. CONSTITUTION: The apparatus comprises a signal generator for generating an interrupt request signal to move coordinate and a touch-on signal to scan a coordinate value, a switch for transferring the coordinate value to a system in response to the touch-on signal, an interrupt answering portion for scanning the coordinate value and controlling movement of the coordinate according to scanned the value, and an interrupt controller for generating an awaiting signal to stop operation of the interrupt answering portion when the coordinate value does not received for a predetermined time.
