PURPOSE: A cathode ray tube of a flat type is provided to reduce a thickness of a panel and improve a characteristic of a cathode ray tube by forming flatly a center portion of a panel. CONSTITUTION: A cathode ray tube comprises: a panel(1) fixed on a front face of a funnel(2) having a neck portion(5); and a shadow mask(4) fixed at a state having a constant distance by a rail(8) on a rear face of the panel. The remaining portion except for the funnel fixation portion of the panel is flatly projected to a front direction in comparison with the funnel fixation portion. The rail is combined to the rear face of the funnel fixation portion of the panel and the rear face of the remaining portion except for the funnel fixation portion of the panel.
