METHOD FOR DETECTING STEP-OUT OF IMAGE SHAPING DEVICE CARRIAGE

PURPOSE: A detecting method for a step-out of a carriage of an image shaping device is provided to detect the step out state being generating while moving the carriage containing an ink cartridge toward the left and the right for preventing the ink cartridge from being damaged. CONSTITUTION: An ink-jet printer contains:a Central Processor Unit(CPU)(22); a displaying device unit(OPE)(24) containing plural operational keys and a Light Emitting Diode(LED) displaying an operational state; a ROM(21a) for storing a program; a memory unit(21) being formed by a DRAM(21b) for storing various data temporarily; a carriage(1) as a printing device unit; an encoder sensor(6) for detecting the change of an encoder strip bar while moving the carriage toward the left and the right for judging if a step out of the carriage and feeding to a microcomputer; and an ink cartridge detecting unit(23) for detecting the deviations of a color ink cartridge and a mono ink cartridge being installed in the carriage for jetting the ink according to a printing command.
