PURPOSE: An ink cartridge replacement method for an inkjet printer is provided to perform the printer lid closing and carriage returning to the original position automatically after the ink cartridge is replaced. CONSTITUTION: The replacement method of ink cartridges for an inkjet printer comprises; step1, to judge if an ink cartridge replacement key is inputted; step2, to move the carriage to the preset position and open the printer lid(42) when the ink cartridge replacement key is inputted; step3, to judge if the ink cartridge is replaced based on whether the ink cartridge and the carriage are in contact or not; step4, if the judgement shows that the ink cartridge is replaced, to return the carriage to the original position and close the printer lid.
