The invention relates to a method for establishing an economical telephone connection between a first and a second terminal, according to which first the calling habits of the first terminal are detected over a defined period (22, 24). From a service center the terminal (32) receives data relative to various telecommunications carriers, which data are tailored to the terminal calling habits and comprise costing information. When a telephone connection is to be established between the first and second terminal the terminal is able to choose (14) the most economical telecommunications carrier on the basis of the data tailored to the calling habits of the first terminal and then establish a telephone connection from the first to the second terminal via the telephone network of the telecommunications carrier selected (16, 18, 20). In this way it is possible, despite the terminal's limited storage capacity, to provide comprehensive data relative to telecommunications carriers in a selective and user-specific manner which is adapted to the regions in which the terminal is actually used for making calls, so as always to determine the most economical telecommunications carrier. A terminal thus requires only a memory of limited storage capacity which can be loaded by a service centre with data relating telecommunications carriers which data are optimally adjusted to the terminal. |
