The invention provides a reticulated fluid monitoring system (10) incorporating a water powered electricity generating dynamo (12) for powering the system, a water flow measuring device (14), and optionally a communications device (16). The dynamo (12) is located on a fluid pipe (18) of the reticulation system such that the flow of fluid through the pipe (18) drives the dynamo (12) to generate electricity. The system (10) will typically be used in a water reticulation system to vend water, measure the minimum water flow rate in the water reticulation system, the maximum flow in the reticulation system, instantaneous flow at any point in time, the total flow past a point over a period of time, and peak average demand. |
