COATING FOR CYLINDER OF RECIPROCATING ENGINE

PURPOSE: A coating for the cylinder of a reciprocating engine and a preparation method thereof are provided which is improved in the abrasion-resistance of the coating and the manufacturing cost. CONSTITUTION: The coating comprises a hypeeutectoid aluminum/silicon alloy, wherein the inhomogeneous layer structure of the coating comprises aluminium-mixed crystals, silicon precipitates, Al2Cu or Mg2Si, and oxides, the mean size of primary precipitate of silicon is less than 10 micrometer, and the mean size of the oxides is less than 5 micrometer. Also the coating comprises an aluminum/silicon composite, wherein the inhomogeneous layer structure of the coating comprises aluminium-mixed crystals, silicon particles, Al2Cu or Mg2Si, and oxides, the mean size of the silicon particles is less than 10 micrometer, and the mean size of the oxides is less than 5 micrometer. Also the coating comprises an aluminum/silicon composite, wherein the inhomogeneous layer structure of the coating comprises aluminium-mixed crystals, silicon particles, Al2Cu or Mg2Si, and oxides, the mean size of the silicon particles is less than 10 micrometer, and the mean size of the oxides is less than 5 micrometer. The coating is produced by heat atmosphere plasma spray method.
