PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the comfortableness of a car without using a double structure of installing car frames around the car. SOLUTION: This device includes a car 1 ascending/descending in a hoistway along a guide rail 8, a pair of driven sheaves 2a, 2b assembled to the lower side of the car 1, a rope 3 stretched between the driven sheaves 2a, 2b and a drive for driving the car 1 to ascend and descend with the transmission of power to the rope 3. The driven sheaves 2a, 2b have shafts 4a, 4b mounted to the cage 1 and elastic bodies 7a, 7b mounted between each of the shafts 4a, 4b and the elevator box 1.
