MANUFACTURE OF SLAB CONVEYING ROLLER AND HEAT INSULATION SLEEVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a service life of a conveying roller by suppressing and preventing release and drop of a heat insulator layer of a slab conveying roller having a tire and the layer axially alternately provided at a shaft material. SOLUTION: In the conveying roller as a forming member of a heat insulation layer covering a periphery of a shaft member 10, an annular space is formed by concentrically opposing an inside cylindrical wall 31a and an outside cylindrical wall 31b, and both ends of the space are formed with a structure in which a heat insulation sleeve 30 made of a heat resistant cast steel housing 31 blocked by a side wall 31c and a heat insulator 32 filled in the space is engaged with the member 10. The sleeve 30 is preferably manufactured as an insert cast unit for including the insulator 32 in a shell 31 made of a heat resistant alloy by applying a lost pattern mold process.
