PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a contour correction device that enhances sharpness of a contour of an original video signal, without addition of a pre-shoot or an overshoot and loss of a geometrical structure of the original video signal and improves sharpness of a contour of the original video signal without fixing a reference position to improve the sharpness of the contour by an input signal. SOLUTION: This device is provided with a contour correction area detection means 3, that detects a contour area of an input video signal and divides the contour area into an interpolated area and an angle correction area, an interpolation means 5 that generates a video signal of the interpolation area, based on the input video signal and an output signal from the contour correction area detection means 3, a reference point detection means 4 that calculates a reference point of the angle correction area based on the input video signal and the output signal from the contour correction area detection means 3, and an angle correction means 6 that corrects the angle of the input video signal, with respect to the reference point calculated by the reference point detection means 4.
