PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an absolute value encoder in which many multi-rotational quantities can be detected with no limitation in the lead pitch of a magnetic worm while facilitating spiral magnetization. SOLUTION: The multi-rotational absolute value encoder comprises a first absolute value encoder 1 for detecting an absolute value angle within a single revolution, a magnetic worm 3 coupled with the first absolute value encoder 1, at least one second absolute value encoder 2 for detecting multi-rotational quantities coupled with a magnetic worm wheel 4 disposed oppositely to the magnetic worm 3, and a control circuit 5 for producing the absolute value angle of quantities by combining the output signals from the first and second absolute value encoders 1, 2 and detecting a multi-rotational absolute angle signal. A taw-like magnet 3A is wound spirally around the magnetic worm 3 at an interval ts equal to the width of magnet tm and the surface of the magnet 3A is magnetized with N or S pole.
