PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce a toner excellent in matchability with an image forming device by using a specified amt. of an arom. oxycarboxylic acid. SOLUTION: Particles of a polymerizable monomer compsn. contg. a polymerizable vinyl monomer are formed in an aq. dispersive medium contg. a water-soluble polymn. inhibitor and the vinyl monomer is polymerized to form toner particles. At this time, the weight ratio (A/B) of the content A (pts.wt.) of an arom. oxycarboxylic acid to the content B (pts.wt.) of the polymn. inhibitor, based on 100 pts.wt. of the vinyl monomer is 5-100 and the content A of the arom. oxycarboxylic acid is 0.01-3 pts.wt.
