PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To protect an electric wire with high workability in safety by molding an elastomer or olefin resin into the shape of a band, cooling one of its surface or backside to develop the internal residual stress to curl the same, and winding the same around its longitudinal axis into the shape of a roll. SOLUTION: The elastomer or olefin resin is molded into the shape of a band, and curled by the internal stress to be wound into the shape of a roll around its longitudinal axis to obtain an electric wire protecting member 1. The interal residual stress for curling is developed by extruding the resin in a heated and melted state, from an arcuate drawing hole of a die of a molding machine, cooling the same by generating the difference in temperature between the surface and backside thereof, and generating the difference in shrinkage factor between the surface and backside. An adhesive part is optionally formed on an inner peripheral surface of this electric wire protective member 1 in advance when needed. In the construction of the electric wire, both ends 1a, 2b wound into the shape of a roller and overlapped to one another are flared to cover onto the electric wire, and fixed to the electric wire through the adhesive part, whereby the protecting work of the electric wire can be performed in safety by one person even at a high place.
