PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a font preparing method capable of reducing the number of input characters, and preparing fonts unified as the whole. SOLUTION: Font data as to three characters, for example are prepared as indicated in column A in the figure to be input. Since the three characters are broken down into six parts as shown in column B when seperated into left-hand radicals and right-hand radicals, the respective parts are stored in a data base. Then, the six parts stored in the data base are combined appropriately or used alone pursant to a prescribed composing rule to prepare six characters as shown in column C of the figure. Since the six characters are prepared based on the three character fonts, the six character fonts are formed with the unified underlying tone only by unifying designs for the three fonts.
