PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the characteristics as a gas diffusion electrode by dispersing a carbon particle in a reverse micelle solution formed by mixing at least one aqueous metal salt solution to which a surfactant is dissolved in an organic solvent and calcinating it at a non-oxidation atmosphere after an electrode catalyst precursor is carried on the carbon particle to form an electrode catalyst. SOLUTION: A surfactant is added to an organic solvent such as cyclohexane and further, an aqueous solution of the mixture of a metal salt of a material for an electrode catalyst substance is added thereto, followed by stirring the mixture to prepare a reverse micelle solution (A). Similarly, a reverse micelle solution (B) is prepared in an organic solvent such as cyclohexane to which the surfactant is mixed. Next, when the reverse micelle solution (B) is added to the reverse micelle solution (A) and the mixture is stirred, a suspension of a mixed hydroxide of a metal is formed in the reverse micelle. After the suspension is aged, a precipitate is separated by a method such as a centrifugation, a filtration and a washing and is washed and then, after drying, the precipitate is made to a fine particle to prepare a precursor of the electrode catalyst substance. |
