PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the necessity of providing an initialization process and a new ROM information recording layer in a magneto-optical information recording medium when ROM information recorded by permanently eliminating the vertical magnetic anisotropy of a magnetic film according to information is reproduced. SOLUTION: In a part of a magneto-optical disk 100, a ROM information region is formed by permanently eliminating the vertical magnetic anisotropy of a magnetic layer 101, a laser beam 200 is converged on the optical disk 100 by using an objective lens 300, and simultaneously a magnetic field having an intensity larger than that of the coercive force of the magnetic layer 101 is applied. Thus, the ROM information is reproduced by the effect of magnetic force.
