PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To permit the visual recognition of the distinct characters and images in a wide region and to enhance the reliability of in the recognition of the characters and images. SOLUTION: This liquid crystal display device 1 has an LCD 52 of a transmission type having a display section 52a for displaying the characters and the images on a front surface side and a backlight 54 which is disposed on the rear surface side of this LCD 52 and has a diffusion plate 54a facing the rear surface of the panel and a light source 54b for projecting illumination light toward this diffusion plate 54a and illuminating the rear surface of the panel. In such a case, the constitution to dispose a reflector 2 for reflecting the illumination light from the light source 54b to the rear surface side of the panel between the LCD 52 and back light 54 is adopted for the device described above. |
