摘要 <p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make accurately and easily analyzable the concentration distribu tion of a dopant or bulk density distribution by infiltrating a resin into a porous glass matrix to cure the same and cutting the impregnated matrix to analyze the cut surface thereof. SOLUTION: A porous glass matrix 3 for an optical fiber, wherein SiO2 doped with GeO2 is used in a core and SiO2 is used in a clad, is immersed in the fixing resin 2 within a container 1 to be impregnated with the resin. Subsequently, this resin 2 is cured and the glass matrix 3 is cut in its radial direction by a metal saw and the Ge concn. distribution of the cut surface is analyzed by an electron beam microanalyzer. As the resin 2, a low viscosity resin is pref. and, for example, an epoxy resin, an acrylic resin and a mixture of them are designated. As a kind of analysis, the analysis of element bonded state distribution and bulk density distribution is designated other than the analysis of element distribution. By this constitution, an optical fiber glass matrix and an optical fiber of high quality can be certainly obtained.</p>
