PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and device for judging the residual lifetime of a lead-acid storage battery whereby the battery replacement timing is judged automatically and to provide a reference for judgement at the time the battery capacity has deteriorated to 80%. SOLUTION: This method for discriminating lifetime is made in the manner that power is supplied from a sealed lead-acid storage battery 3 via a diode D2 when the power supplied through a diode D1 goes out, a charge circuit 9 is disconnected, and the internal impedance of the battery 3 is determined by a deterioration judging circuit 11 using a high frequency power supply, to discriminate the deterioration of the residual lifetime of the battery 3 when the predetermined value is exceeded by the increase in the sensing value of internal impedance compared with the internal impedance at the starting time the battery service.
