PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a data module and a film unit with a lens incorporating the same from being reutilized by an unauthorized trader. SOLUTION: This data module 31 is connected to the RS-232C 57a of a personal computer 57 through a serial I/O 52 before it is incorporated in a unit main body. When a battery for a module 55 is set in the date module 31, a clock circuit 49 is reset and starts time measurement operation from prescribed date and time, and the prescribed date and time is temporarily displayed on a liquid crystal panel 51, which becomes the non-display state after 1 to 2 seconds. By operating the computer 57, the date and time data expressing the present date and time is transferred to a controller 53 through serial communication in such order as identification code→writing instruction code→-date and time data, and the circuit 49 starts the time measurement from the present date and time. If the identification code is not transferred first, the controller 53 does not receive the next instruction code, the panel 51 is in the non-display state, and imprinting a photographing day etc., is not performed.
