CONTROL CHANNEL RETRIEVAL METHOD AND PORTABLE COMMUNICATION SET IN MOBILE COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce current consumption of a battery by controlling variably and increasingly a control channel monitor period corresponding to a reception state of a control channel at the outside of a zone after the movement of a mobile terminal. SOLUTION: A control section 11 in a configuration consisting of components from an antenna multicoupler 1 to a memory 17 discriminates whether or not the mobile terminal exists out of a 1st zone area where a control channel is receptible but a waiting zone selection level is not satisfied or out of a 2nd zone area where the control channel it not receptible when the mobile terminal moves to the outside of the communication zone. The control section keeps a control channel monitor period (Tma) in a usual operation state out of the 1st zone area and sets a control channel monitor period Tmb out of the 2nd zone area that has a wider timer interval than that of the control channel monitor period Tma.
