PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve use efficiency of a permanent magnet installed in a piston, and enable miniaturization of a permanent magnet and cost reduction of a cylinder tube. SOLUTION: This detecting apparatus 16 is fixed on the outer peripheral surface of a cylinder tube 11, and detects the magnetic field of a permanent magnet 14 which is installed in a piston 12 moving along the inner peripheral surface of the cylinder tube 11. The detecting apparatus 16 is provided with a magnetic sensor 34 operated by the magnetic flux generated from the permanent magnet 14, and part members 31, 32 composed of high permeability material which converge the magnetic flux generated from the permanent magnet 14 and guide the flux to the magnetic sensor 34.
