Rotating X-ray tube has an anode for distributing heat generated at a focal spot, a cathode for producing X-rays on impact with the anode and a lead lined casing (26). The lead lining is exposed to a dielectric cooling oil. An electroplating coating (28) on the casing prevents lead contamination of the cooling oil. An Independent claim is also included for a method of forming the above rotating X-ray tube.
