The device comprises a frame (11) carrying a gripping and guide block (12), means (13) for the introduction of a helicoidal insert into a bore and controls (14). The gripping and guide block is formed from two pieces each comprising a half-bore arranged so that when the two pieces are juxtaposed the half-bores engage to form a threaded bore in which the insert can be screwed. Each piece engages with a movement part enabling the bringing together or the separation of the block pieces. The introduction means are formed by a motor (19) having a rotating pin (20) and a screwing part (21) driven by the pin. The screwing part comprises a screwing rod (22) which ends in a slot (23). The transverse bar on the insert engages the slot so as to allow the insert to be screwed into the bore.
