摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the detection of a flange crack by inspecting the presence /absence of light leaked into a can body while making the pressure in the can body higher than the atmospheric pressure. SOLUTION: A can body to be inspected is supported by a star wheel 8 and the bottom part of the can body is pressed by a holding means 9 to closely bring the opening part 2 of the can body into contact with a light seal 18. The can body and a case 25 are hermetically closed to cut off external light. Thereafter, when air is sent into the can body through a pipe 27, the pressure in the can body becomes higher than atmospheric pressure and the diameter of the can body is increased. By this constitution, the contact area of a flange part and the light seal 18 becomes small. Along with this, the crack of the flange part expands and light becomes easy to pass from the crack. By this method, the can body is fed while the flange crack is held to a state easy to inspect and, during this period, it is inspected whether light is leaked into the can body by the photosensor 26 in the case 25.
