PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a negative electrification type photoreceptor having excellent performance (high g characteristics) for digital optical input and excellent cycle characteristics, long life and high stability by using a setting resin as the binder resin of an intermediate layer and incorporating a charge producing agent and/or charge transfer agent into the intermediate layer. SOLUTION: This photoreceptor has at least a charge producing layer 2, intermediate layer 3 and charge transfer layer 4 on a conductive base body 1. The binder resin in the intermediate layer 3 is a setting resin, and the intermediate layer 3 contains a charge producing agent and/or charge transfer agent. As for the binder resin of the intermediate layer 3, at least one kind selected from unsatd. polyester resin, epoxy resin, melamine resin, urethane resin, setting fluorocarbon resin, acrylic resin and photosetting resin is preferably used. The charge producing layer 2, intermediate layer 3 and charge transfer layer 4 are preferably deposited in this order from the base body 1. The charge producing agent and/or charge transfer agent incorporated are preferably pigments having <=1μm average particle size.
