PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas-blast circuit breaker which reduces usage of SF6 by using mixed gas and substitute gas and has a sufficient breaking capability. SOLUTION: This power circuit breaker includes a mechanical switch 11 having two detachable opposite electrodes and an extinction capability in a container filled with an arc-extinguishing gas, and a mechanical driving portion 12 for operating the mechanical switch 11. The breaker has at least either a transit recovery voltage reducing portion 20 for suppressing a transit recovery voltage generated between the electrodes of the mechanical switch 11 or a current limiting portion. At least either the transit recovery voltage reducing portion 20 or the current limiting portion functions either after switching or during switching operation.
