PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the starting time of a power source equipment for an electrolytic plant. SOLUTION: This power source equipment for an electrolytic plant is constituted of a breaker 1, a load time tap changeover transformer 2, a transformer 3 for a rectifier, a voltage control reactor 4, a diode rectifier 5, a control circuit 20, etc. A dead zone time to anode effect is bypassed at the time of starting by using a tap changeover control circuit 23 of a control circuit 20. By operating a motor 2a of a load time tap diverter switch which is installed on the load time tap changeover transformer 2, a tap of the load time tap changeover transformer 2 is raised every one tap as far as a detected value of a current detector 6 becomes nearly equal to a set value of output power setting equipment 11.
