PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make the device of an optical switch smaller in size and higher in integration by diminishing the dimension in a height direction when a plurality of stationary side optical fibers are stacked and arrayed. SOLUTION: A plurality of the stationary side optical fibers 6 stripped from the front ends of fiber ribbons 5 are arrayed within the respective fiber alignment grooves 15 on a substrate 9. A plurality of the stationary side optical fibers 6 stripped from the front ends of the other fiber ribbons 5 are stacked on these stationary side optical fibers 6 so as to come into contact simultaneously with the two adjacent stationary side optical fibers 6 on a lower stage side. The front end portions of all the stationary side optical fibers 6 are cut, by which the end faces of the stationary side optical fibers 6 are made flush with each other.
