PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image pickup device, capable of following a subject which goes out to the outside of a view angle range only by allowing user's eyes to follow the subject without moving a camera by movably constituting a lens part so as to be able to change the optical axis direction of an image pickup optical system. SOLUTION: A lens part 2 is driven so as to set up a required optical axis direction through lens driving mechanisms 3, 4, 8, 10. Especially, by having the device provided with a photographer's eye detection means, the lens part 2 is continuously driven with respect to the photographer's gaze detection means so as to follow the photographer's gaze. Thus, the position of the lens is changed by starting or stopping motors for the lens drive mechanisms 3, 4, 8, 10 interlocking with the photographer's gaze detecting function. When the photographer observes a prescribed arrow, a drive signal turns a motor (gear 4) in the arrow E direction through a system control means, a system microcomputer and a drive circuit and the gear 3 is turned to an F direction so that the lens 2 turns to the right direction. When the photographer observes an opposite arrow, the gears 3, 4 are turned to the opposite directions and the lens 2 turns to the left. |
